USER GUIDE – Moving Average EA
The Moving Average (MA) Trading Robot uses two moving average (MA) lines to identify trading opportunities. It is designed with multiple strategy blocks that can be individually enabled or disabled. Each strategy block provides separate entry logic for Buy and Sell signals.
STRATEGY SECTION
- Active MA: This input allows you to enable or disable the specific strategy block. When set to “On,” the block becomes active and contributes to trading decisions. If disabled (“Off”), the strategy block will not generate any signals or trades.
- MA Strategy: Choose the type of entry logic to be used in this strategy block.
- Available Strategies:
- Cross:
- Buy Signal: Triggered when the Fast MA crosses from below to above the Slow MA.
- Sell Signal: Triggered when the Fast MA crosses from above to below the Slow MA.
- Up and Down:
- Buy Signal: Triggered when the Fast MA is above the Slow MA.
- Sell Signal: Triggered when the Fast MA is below the Slow MA.
- Cross:
- Available Strategies:
- MA TimeFrame: This input lets you select the timeframe for the Moving Average indicator. You can choose to match the current chart timeframe or set it to a specific one, such as 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or 1 hour, depending on your trading preferences.
- MA Period (First): This input specifies the period for the Fast Moving Average. The chosen period determines the number of bars used in calculating the average, which directly impacts the sensitivity of the moving average line.
- MA Shift (First): This input defines the shift value for the Fast Moving Average. By setting a shift, you can move the calculated MA line forward or backward on the chart for better alignment with your trading strategy.
- MA Price (First): This input determines the price type used in calculating the Fast Moving Average. You can select options such as Close, Open, High, or Low, allowing flexibility in adapting the EA to your preferred price source.
- MA Method (First): This input allows you to choose the calculation method for the Fast Moving Average. The available methods include Simple, Exponential, Smoothed, and Linear Weighted, each providing a different way to smooth price data.
- MA Period (Slow): This input sets the period for the Slow Moving Average. Similar to the Fast MA period, it determines the number of bars used for calculation but is typically set to a higher value for a smoother line.
- MA Shift (Slow): This input specifies the shift value for the Slow Moving Average. It functions the same way as the Fast MA shift, allowing you to adjust the placement of the Slow MA line on the chart.
- MA Price (Slow): This input specifies the price type for the Slow Moving Average. Like the Fast MA price, options include Close, Open, High, or Low, providing consistency or variation in your analysis.
- MA Method (Slow): This input lets you select the calculation method for the Slow Moving Average. The method can be chosen based on your trading style and the behavior you wish to capture with the MA.
- Signal Bars (0 = Current Bar): This input determines the candle number on the chart that the EA will use to check for signals. If set to “0,” the current candle is used. For different timeframes, the signal bar corresponds to the selected MA timeframe, ensuring flexibility in signal detection.
- Reverse Signal: This input reverses the default trade logic for signals. When enabled, buy signals trigger sell trades and sell signals trigger buy trades. It only affects trade actions and does not modify the logic that generates the signals.
